ASK ME ANYTHING

My Mother owned her Photography business and Studio for over 20 years, so it feel like I am unexpectedly following in her footsteps :) But when it comes to how I've learned, it's varied from being self-taught, while also having taken workshops, training courses and a Mentor session. I've learned so much, but photography is an art that is constantly evolving, and there's so much we can learn to grow as Artists! I would love to be a part of your journey, helping you in any way I can so that your business can thrive!

Simplified

I feel so blessed to have had Melissa as a mentor! She is extremely talented and knowledgeable. Her eye for detail and perfection doesn't only apply to her photography skills! I always knew I wanted to do photography as a business but got bogged out by all of the ins-and-outs. After just one afternoon with Melissa, I felt confident and excited to get out and start shooting! The way she walked me through everything really simplified the things that were confusing for me. She has helped me to fall in love with photography again! Melissa is the reason I am flourishing and booking clients!

DO YOU OFFER MENTORING SESSIONS?

Yes! I offer 1 hour sessions geared toward your needs, critique your work and talk about whatever you need to know for your business to thrive! The basic Mentor session is $225, but if you would like to shoot alongside one another, as well and have some business portraits taken of yourself for your Facebook or website, it's $350 :)

WHAT WEBSITE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?

I would highly recommend ProPhoto with GoDaddy as your site Host. If you're looking for a one-time fee to build your website, it's with ProPhoto! I didn't want a monthly payment, so for minimal startup costs, I created my website-- plus, they have excellent Customer Service!! You can save $20 OFF your website if you click HERE and use Code: MKNO3424 at checkout!

WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?

I currently have a Canon 5D Mark III with both a 50mm 1.2 lens, as well as a 35mm 1.4 lens. It's all a matter of preference when choosing the right gear for you and your business! I recommend doing research on your favorite Photographers to see what they use, and perhaps rent the gear before you invest-- just to test it out first!

wHICH EDITING SOFTWARE DO YOU PREFER?

I primarily use Adobe Lightroom for editing and Adobe Photoshop Elements for retouch and photo manipulations, if needed!
